What to read next?
My options:
- The Road, Cormac McCarthy: I’ve had this one for a while, but it’s never taken hold of me. Compared to other options, might be an easier read to follow up the couple books I just finished. This would be the first McCarthy book I’ve read.
- Big Sur, Jack Kerouac: I’ve had this one even longer. I’ll be honest; Kerouac has been one of the hardest writers for me to read unless I’m in the right state of mind. I started and stopped On The Road at least four times before finally getting into it, although The Subterraneans and And The Hippos Were Boiled In Their Tanks were instant reads.
- A People’s History of the United States, Howard Zinn: I definitely want to tackle this at some point, but it’s so daunting. I was a political science major in college and have always been big into history, so I’m sure I’ll love it. I’m just not sure if I’m ready to jump into an almost 700-page project right now.
- A Game of Thrones, George R.R. Martin: This is likely the choice. I’ve wanted to read it since I watched the first season of the HBO show late last year, and it would be good to get through it before the new season starts in April so that I’m not getting mixed up between television and the books. So yeah, this makes sense.
Any thoughts?
